Mission Designer
Saints Row IV was a weird project for Volition. It began as an expansion pack to Saints Row: The Third, became a standalone expansion pack, and finally, after THQ’s bankruptcy sale and finding new owners in Deep Silver, a full game release. I still think it’s amazing that what we see there only took about a year to produce.
I continued my role as a designer in the missions/activities/diversions (MAD) team, picking up a variety of missions throughout the game with no single through line. I’m particularly proud of the third mission, A Pleasant Day, where the player is trapped in an idyllic simulation that proves to be a nightmare to our protagonist.
Additionally, I designed, prototyped, and implemented almost all the new activities introduced in SR4, supporting the player’s new superpowers in fun and interesting ways.
